How well prepared is the UK for climate change?

The Adaptation Sub-Committee, which is an independent body advising the government on climate adaptation, published the first national assessment on how well the UK is prepared for climate change. The report concludes that, with the impacts of climate change already being felt in the UK, people must start preparing now. The report includes a simple framework to measure, evaluate and monitor how well the UK is preparing for climate change. The framework comprises three elements – desired outcomes from adapting, a ladder of key activities in delivering adaptation outcomes and policy to enable delivery. An example of the adaptation preparedness ladder is applied to the forestry sector.
